TEXAS
BROWN - Blues Band
For those of you to whom categories
are important, and for those of you to whom variety of
style and influence is a blessing, Armando Compean and Texas Brown have a tune to play and a song to sing. As
a matter of fact, the Texas-born, Houston-raised bass player/singer
has a long list of songs to play and sing – songs
ranging from driving Texas shuffle blues to tunes flavored
with jazzy horn arrangements and Latin rhythm. Armando,
who has a clear understanding of blues and jazz roots,
is able and willing to blend the two with natural conviction.
Raised in a musical family as the youngest of ten, he was
exposed to classical music, jazz and romantic Latin boleros.
His father was a violinist/bassist and set the musical tone
and standard for the entire family.
In addition to the musical influence at home, Armando gravitated
naturally towards the local blues and jazz talent in the City of Houston, playing in some of the same clubs and backing
such artists as Bobby "Blue" Bland, Albert
Collins, Johnny Copeland, Little Junior Parker, Archie
Bell and the Drells, to name a few. It helped mold the sound that is Texas
Brown. We think you will enjoy this music and its soul-healing
sensation.
Texas Brown welcomes you to the Soul Zone

SUSIE
HANSEN LATIN BAND
Electric violinist Susie Hansen plays
fiery Latin Jazz and Salsa, creating music that brings
audiences to their feet, dancing in the aisles. Susie and
her Los Angeles-based band have been acclaimed by many
critics, such as Phil Elwood from the San
Francisco Examiner who describes them this way: "It's
a sizzling, swinging Salsa band. Hansen can solo as if her
bow was afire. The whole room was jumpin' for joy."
Susie Hansen is a recording artist on Jazz
Caliente Records with two releases, her current CD, The
Salsa Never Ends and
her debut CD, Solo Flight. Susie plays the electric 5-string
Zeta violin. She has been getting extensive airplay across
the United States and in Europe, South
America, and Asia,
and two singles from the current CD charted well with radio
and club DJs for over a year.

THE
PETE JACOBS BAND -
10 Piece Swing and Motown Band
And so begins another evening with
Pete Jacobs and his 10-piece Band.
Interspersing the hits of Swing and Motown,
a nd
with their young female vocalists, a hot, driving
rhythm section, and horn section, the band
is both full and energetic!
Dancing is what it's all about! Few
bandleaders understand - and can deliver - what dancers
want better than Jacobs. " It doesn't matter how great
the musicianship of the band is if you can't dance to it." And
the people who flock to every music venue they can
find overwhelmingly agree!
Pete Jacobs makes his home in Irvine, California and makes
his living as a professional musician, songwriter, and record
producer. |
